Allah Ta'ala has blessed Pakistan with the best fertile land, ideal canal system for irrigation, snowfall and rain on the mountains, flowing springs, streams and rivers, as well as beautiful seasons like summer, winter, spring and rainy season.

We have no shortage of manpower. All these things suggest that our production per acre should be ideal but unfortunately it is not because our production per acre is less than many developing countries.

Agriculture is an important pillar of our country's economy, about 60 percent of our population is directly or indirectly related to the agricultural sector, about 45 percent of the country's workforce is related to agriculture, and agriculture accounts for about 19 percent of GDP. is in position.While the share of agriculture and its products in the country's exports is about 60 percent.

It is a fact that a country cannot develop without the development of agriculture. They will be able to provide their children with better educational, residential and recreational facilities, in addition to this, industry will also flourish, more employment opportunities will be provided, investment in agriculture will increase, business activities will also accelerate and foreign exchange will increase due to the increase in exports. The reserves will also increase.

*Problems of agriculture*


The country's agriculture is currently facing the following problems which are major obstacles in increasing production:-

1. Water scarcity and poor irrigation system:-


Due to the unnecessary delay in the construction of new dams, the problem of water scarcity has become very serious. It is wasted in uneven fields, therefore not only the desired production is not obtained, but the productivity of the land, if there is no justice in the irrigation resources and the current wastage of water from the irrigation system continues in the same way, then there will be a shortage of water. The problem can turn into a crisis.

2. Unevenness of fields:-


Majority of our fields are uneven, in which not only agricultural inputs such as water, seeds and fertilizers are wasted and yields are low, but the productivity of the land is also gradually decreasing.

3. Expensiveness of fertilizers, seeds and medicines:-


Things like improved seeds, fertilizers and medicines etc. are not only very expensive but also not available as required by the farmers at the time of sowing.

4. Less access to global markets:-


Due to reduced access to global markets, poor exports did not fetch adequate prices.

5. Law of Inheritance:-


As a result of the law of inheritance, the plots owned by the farmers are becoming smaller and smaller day by day due to the division of land, which is difficult to take full advantage of modern technology.

6. No increase in cultivated land:-


For the last two decades, our cultivated area is only about 8 million hectares of cultivated land and there is no significant increase in it, although the population has increased many times during this period. But it cannot be cultivated due to lack of water.

7. Farmers being illiterate:-

Farmers being illiterate or less literate did not benefit from modern technology.

8. Sam  Thor's problem:-


Our large area is prone to seam thor and may increase further in the coming years due to lack of proper dams.

9. nadequate storage facilities:-


A lot of produce is lost due to inadequate storage facilities.

10. eduction in productivity of lands due to continuous cultivation:-

In order to meet the needs of the growing population, there has been a continuous increase in the cultivation of the lands, in addition, there has been a decrease in the use of fertilizers etc. in the lands, due to which their productivity is gradually decreasing.

11. Lack of communication between farmers and concerned departments:- 

There is lack of communication between farmers and concerned departments.

12. Lack of practice of soil and water analysis among farmers:-


Majority of our farmers not only do not give reason to soil and tube well water analysis which not only wastes our valuable resources but also they cannot be fully utilized and the productivity of the land starts to decrease. 

13. Crop diseases, floods and other natural calamities:-


Natural calamities like crop diseases, locusts, earthquakes and floods etc. sometimes make the country suffer from food crisis.

14. Inadequate credit facilities:-


One of the main reasons for financial backwardness is non-provision of required credit on time.
